Nervous About Needles?
It is completely natural to feel hesitant if you are uncomfortable with needles, but please don’t let that hold you back. The instruments used for SAAT are the tiniest acupuncture needles you have ever seen—in fact, many of my patients tell me they shouldn’t even be called “needles”!
If you are worried about the experience, you aren’t alone. Almost every patient who expresses concern ends up saying the exact same thing right after: “Oh, that’s it? That’s all it is?”
You may feel a quick pinch or a moment of tenderness during placement, but any slight discomfort is brief and fleeting. Compared to the daily frustration and debilitating impact that allergies have on your life, this simple, one-time treatment offers relief that far outweighs a momentary pinch.
SAAT is an exceptionally effective treatment for a wide array of allergies, including food, environmental and chemical allergies. It is non-invasive and generally requires one needle and one treatment per allergen. We have successfully treated hundreds of SAAT patients who have been healed of their allergy, including alpha-gal. This is a treatment that actually re-trains the body to stop overreacting just because it is being exposed to a certain food, pollen, chemical, neurotransmitter etc.
When an allergic reaction occurs, the body is panicking and determining its harmful even when it isn’t. This treatment teaches the body to stop overreacting so that when that substance is introduced, it no longer causes a stress or allergic response. Compared to usual allergy treatments of daily medication or treatments that last for years, this one is super effective, fast and results in a true change.

Dr. Nader Soliman developed SAAT after continuing the work of the French neurologist and physician, Dr. Paul Nogier, who began in the 1950s and really discovered the healing and diagnostic properties of the outer ear, called Auricular Therapy. Dr. Soliman is a medical doctor and started using acupuncture and homeopathy after wanting another option from medications to treat his patients for pain. Over the last 25 years, he continued the work of Dr Nogier, discovered SAAT and made the work accessible by training others of us to do the practice. I have been trained and certified directly by Dr. Soliman and I am very grateful to him for the work he has done in this field. I have been practicing acupuncture for over 23 years but the SAAT treatment is truly something that still regularly amazes me.
Treatment & Cost
For the treatment, a very small needle is inserted into a specific place on the right ear, covered with medical adhesive and left in for 3-4 weeks. At the end of the time, the allergy should be healed and you may start to slowly reintroduce the substance. If there is a history of an anaphylactic response, we are not able to recommend that you reintroduce the allergen, but expect you will be less concerned with accidental or cross contamination exposure.
At the beginning of the visit, you will be tested to see if you are allergic to the needle or adhesive. If you show allergic to one or both of these, treatment for these must happen first before proceeding with the original allergy treatment.
